C.e.from us. Practiced 23 min.6 24 24 including first bars of Meditation. Tryed rt. Thumb on bow ferrule as a beginner should. Have been placing thumb under wood of bow like a football. I think the sound is better with thumb under wood of bow. More hollow and full. Great lesson, my attention span waning. Bye for.now teach.😅

I practiced this morning a good 1/2 hour. I followed your beginning vibrato lesson. I would practice now but we are having a heat wave. Only in the 90s but im 63 with bad back. So i just have to water the roses and spray under my trailer to encourage evaporation of water to make it cooler. I hope to practice in the mornings when its cool. 6 24 24 c.e. your loyal follower.😅

P.s. am trying a black nylon around my left bout and under my tailpiece and around my neck to hold violin on my collar bone. Thank way I ween myself from gripping with the thumb. So far it seems pretty good. My thumb still wants to pinch that neck though. But I'll be patient I think it will help. I notice Mr.James Enes has a habit of over grasp with his left thumb on the finger board. I actually think his vibrato and Maxim Vengerov have the sweetest vibrato. I will try and not grasp with the thumb. Right now . I put it out straight to my left as if.hitch hiking. It's just the stocking and the yoke of my left hand supporting the violin. Wish I could find a Libero shoulder wrest in my area. All the best, c.e. usa 6 24 24.😅

Dear@ R.Perri2845, I may be mistaken, but I believe she means work hard at it, but not for too long. Maybe 5 to 15 minutes a day. She means to focus intensely but limit the duration to aanageable duration. Suggest hour glass and metronome. Coffee is fine if your.not allergic to cFfeine. I tryed coffee to bolster my concentration but i got all strung out on it so i dont recommend it. By indulge i think she means get used to hard work. Practice regularly and routinely.😅

Nicky! Hello from c.e. in u.s. sorry haven't been practicing much. About a month ago I went outside and played the visitors by abba. I thought I sounded awfully good. It was only one day and then I got busy with.other things. I pulled out my violin tonight and re tuned to a 440 and played dance of the sugar plum fairies by Tchikofsky. Just my improvise no sheet music. Then I went.on to play dum dum diddle by abba. I'm at an impass as to tug out the new strings or just keep re tuning. Con sidering remounting.my chin rests so I can work.on vibrato. All for now. C.e. usa. 6 23 24.😅

Dear Nicky! Hello again from southern Oregon! 5 14 24 chris e. Nicky have been working on The Visitors by abba. Discovered they were at A=441, not 438 or 440. I'm so thrilled to tell you I believe I am matching the notes as well as slurry used on the bottom G. Hope your well, I've been down with kidney stones and after a long day of convalescent I pulled out my practice violin. I'm really really psyched! It's sounding nice and buttery to my ears. 5 7 24, Hi! Nicola. Wonderful lwsson. Been working on Turkey trot with another instructress. Then also.anther folk tune w. Another instructress. Only the other day did i figure out to drop all strings but the one im tuning. Its been a revelation. When i think back on 4th grade and how much trouble i had with tuning my violin, i feel rocketed into a new dimension. I still have to rely on my korg tuner but my violin sounds heavenly. I am able to match the tambor of your a string vibrato and its wonderful. So! Ive had a very full day of violin playing. Its about 5:15pm pst. Here on 5 7 24. Great lesson thank you Nicky!

EVEN NOW, IM NOT SURE IVE COMPLETLY UNDERSTOOD HOW TO TUNE, BUT I SOUND SO MUCH BETTER SO I MUST BE ON TO SOMETHING? BY THE WAY YOU WERE ASTOUNDING ON SHOSTOKOVIC VIDIO. THAT DRESS WAS WOW! Hi Nicola! Have been not practicing for many months then the other day saw interesting vidio by a Danish lutier who recomended soapstone for rubbing on bridge to lubricate the string nicks on the bridge. So I became currious because I've never seen that technique before and I just tryed it and it seems to work. The nice advantage is it doesn't dirty up the bridge with black marks. I was told years ago that if I placed a human hair under the string the violin would sing so I tryed it with broken bow hairs and it seemed to help so I thought the asbestos fibers in the talk would sort of do the same thing. So I started playing the violin again just now. I'm using 438 for A and when I picked up my practice violin it sounded beautiful. I havend played in about four months so my ears were fresh I I thought the instrument sounded quite good. So here I am back at the violin again. I have become so rusty and uncoordinated I feel like a complete beginner. I had gotten some bridge problems with both violins so I layer off the violin untill I could get a double decker toy London buss to rub in a new bridge. I'm a fanatic about correct match between bridge and belly. So I guess that's why I took a vacation from violin practice. Any way I hope to start over and get that toy London buss as a sanding jig and see if it works. Looking forward to your lessons your loyal student in usa.bye for now.😅

Was busy with violin bridge troubles.Got busy again with photography and am having troubles with that too.Just watched a beautiful documentary on Sandro Bottichelli art work. He is.my favorite painter. My troubles with the violin are that I'm unable to achieve a perfect contact with bridge and belly of my violins.Am considering using glass to scrape bridge feet as xacto knives seem so dull. I was playing Sibilius which is remarkable as.I don't read music particularly well. I hope to resume in a few months hopefully with better bridges or sharper carving knives. Hope your safe and well.
